I am sorry for being gone so long. Likely you have all disappeared or forgotten about my little slice of internet as well...I don't blame you or mind much. The years I've been on here have led me to a lot of good people, and I've wasted many hours happily.

I'm on tumblr more often than not, and mostly because of it's immediacy/ease. If you'd like to follow me there i'm bonerdrome.tumblr.com. It's far more shallow and far less true to me, but prettier and updated more often at least.

I'll be on here again sometime soon I'm sure, but for now, I'm going through a pretty serious transition (just graduated college) and I need some time away from the internet (and with more mac and cheese).

Sometimes I read blogs and I wonder: has your heart ever been totally completely broken? Like you stare into space and try to keep on keeping on, but it still just keeps on hurtin and so you keep starin and keep drinkin, and you're just fuct fuct fuct, I guess, the only bloggers I've ever who've really addressed pain are sister wolf, and recently fashion toast. It's kinda fuct'd no?

We all post our daily outfits, our make-up, our shoes/sweaters/dresses/shoes again(in my case) that we want....but never a damn thing about what...about what we are really feeling...

yes, we have great style. Yes, we want to share it and git feedback, yes we care about our community...this community of fashion bloggers...but also, how much more would it all mean if we were a little more honest? If karla maybe talked about how she was feeling weird about her beautiful bf (sry to use you as an example).....

I'm not a blogger icon. I'm no one as far as internet popularity, but I'm going to say something real real real 4 real right now. B/c I'm tired of being a fashion blogger, that is what I love, but it's not all of who I am.

I have worked and am working and am always working, and am always trying to keep living because it is worth it...because something is worth it. AND sometimes I think it is fashion, and sometimes I think it is ANIMALS, and sometimes I think it is PSYCHOLOGY, and what I can do, maybe some day for a other ppl, and sometimes I think it is a random (read: all of the above) million things that make life worth worth WORTH it.

& I am trying...and as hard as I hurt (and I do) I won't stop.

Pardon the pixels, and even pardon the snarking...but this woman is no longer the visage of a powerful model or woman. She's the image of a woman uncomfortable with her age, trying to hold on to an image which stopped being possible a long time ago. She looks older than her years, sick, and above all tired. She doesn't inspire me. Her style is not unique or beautiful or even inspired. Can the fashion world please move on from a model who was successful, above all, for looking like a 12 yr old heroin addict (a pretty one though)? Can the stylish collective stop supporting this woman's obvious self destruction? She has a child for christ's sake.

I am aware there is a lot you can poke holes in, or offer up other examples of why she is amazing. But I don't see it. I don't get it. I never will. It's my opinion. And it's not so much HER as a person (obvs, I've never met the woman) but what the continued obsession with her says about the industry, and maybe, all of us. So I have this really great theory that I'm totally losing it. Also, I'm completly boy crazy. These two probably go hand in hand. Did I tell y'all that there is some crazy deamon at my school? It's inhabiting everyone, some give over easier than others. I'm dead serious. I think I'm gonna write a short story about it. Okay, without naming names, besides my own, this is what has happened here in the past month, and it's escalating: 10,000 worth of damages to tvs and projectors from some kooks with wrench and violence in their hearts, a split eyebrow from getting a door kicked into a face, 6 or 7 people from bton at a hospital in one night, a slit wrist (sort of accidental), 2 instances of cutting w/out motivation, graffiti all over our arts building, many many blackouts.

I'm both excited and terrified to see what happens in the next week and a half. Will it end in tragedy? Worse thing HAVE happened here, but all this stuff in such a short period of time is kinda freeky.

I think thats why I'm losing it. I feel like my brain is separating at the seams and all I want to do is drink and smoke and fuck.

I went to nyc this weekend for a little reprieve. Thank God. I saw my boyfriend who grounds me like none other. I felt normal for a breif period of time. So, I have no idea who this girl is, or what she is saying, but damn...bitch has style. I found her over at the wasteland which is lookbook, which is, as i just implied a total effing shit show and I kinda hate it, but sometimes you come across a gal who looks so fresh and fierce and other things tyra might say (is that show still on even?). When I had the idea for this article I immediately wanted to look inside this gal's closet so I'm pumped to bring you Swan freshman, Amira Hankin's favorite pieces. If you've ever seen her around campus, then you know that girl can dress. To me, her wardrobe is this lovely and eclectic mix of things you'd find in your grandmother's attic, well, your really stylish grandma anyway. She actually gets most of her stuff from other people's attics, at estate sales and the famed Alameda flea market in San Francisco. Her pieces are always a little moth-eaten, maybe faded, but exquisite in this aged quality...without further ado:

“My mom found it at an antique shop.” She says, visibly stoked about this delicate gem. It was her 19^th birthday present, and it's obviously, totally appropriate; both elegant and womanly.

Amira calls these her “little bowling shoes” and they are so quirky. “They're much too big for me and they cracked so I had to fix them up and give them stitches,” she explains, and, indeed, if you look closely you can see a row of perfect stitches in the leather.

“I love this dress so much.” Amira's words are breathy and hushed, as if this dress has some sort of power all its own. Amira's devotion to her clothing is undeniable, on this dress she has re-sewn many of the buttons and hems herself. It is, really, quite a unique piece, and worth the effort. It reminds me of coats of arms and medieval times (not the restaurant, duh), which is a strange juxtaposition to this little 50's housewife frock, but, it works.

What can I even say about this sweater? It's effing amazing and lush and this beautiful cafe-creme color. It's real fox fur, and while that's not particularly p.c., it is particularly fabulous looking, and obviously vintage (don't throw red paint on Amira...).

The dress pictured under the sweater is, for me, the real stand out piece. “I love that it's this awful swamp shade of green that only looks good when its actually on people,” and Amira is right. This dress is the ugliest color, and yet, it is totally stunning. It sort of evokes animal print, wood grain and peacock feathers all at the same time, an impressive feat.

This is decidedly not the best quality photo, but I really loved my outfit this night. Maybe I'll wear it again and actually take photos. You can also kinda see my new burgundy platform boots from the 70's. They are amazing.

Me, outside MQueen, moments after watching Daphe Guiness teeter out of her black limo in nina ricci's heelless shoes. I was with my boyfriend and as she walked past our conversation went like this:

me: Oh my god...

he: thats daphe guiness

me: I KNOW that.

he: of course you do

me: OH MY GOD.

we then commenced in waiting for her for like 10 minutes, but she didn't reappear and we realized what we were doing was pretty effing creepy.

BONESTYLE

I wrote an article for the newspaper at my school about styles, so I thought I'd stick it up here too...I actually got approached becuz of this twee bloggy so, uh, radical.

Hi friends! This is my very first article for the BFP, or any paper at all really, and I'm pumped! I run a little fashion blog on the interwebs. It's mostly shoes I want and rad editorials—but I thought it might be fun to get a bit more communal. I'm going to start with the essence of Bonestyle, pieces I totally love from my own wardrobe, but in the future I'd love to highlight some of your totally amazing pieces too.

Blue Suede Shoes

Oh my God. Who doesn't really really need a pair of these? They're probably about 5 inches and fairly immobilizing, but their vibrant sapphire hue and sixty dollar price tag make up for any pain. They were the last pair in my size(OK, they're still a half size too big but thats what socks are for) and on super sale. Totally dreamy.

Crochet Pouch

This is a real nice dirty cream color. I got it for five bucks at Beacon's Closet in NYC. Inside it says 70's hip. mac/tap. It also smells kinda like straw. Freaky!

Pumpkin Suede Moto Jacket

This thing is so effing amazing. I got in St. Louis on a road trip. It was like 95 degrees and it literally hurt to put this on. It was a little pricey so I had to get a soy latte and walk around the block, but in the end I went back for him...plus I just got paid.

Vintage Bracelets

These are like, my prized possessions. The spiker one is actually vintage Afghani silver. The one with the weird iron cross is fake turquoise (read: plastic) and silver, and I got it in town at Camelot Village (which you seriously need to go to if you haven't yet. Duh).

White Rabbit Fur Coat

Another totally prized possession. I got this pup at Salvation Army for three fucking dollars cuz there are rips in the sleeves. It sheds like crazy though, which is kinda not cute.
